Look back and reflect on MOCA’s history, past exhibitions, initiatives, programs, and permanent collection, and see how all of these efforts relate to our present offerings and future initiatives. This series is led by MOCA's team of curators.
Today, Los Angeles-based artist Alex Olson shares some insights on With Pleasure: Pattern and Decoration in American Art 1972–1985. As part of the long-running Artists on Artists program series, Olson focuses on Howardena Pindell, one of her favorite artists whose work was featured in the exhibition, speaking specifically about surface and what she calls “superficial reads.”
