MOCA will share ways that we can come together to support our communities in need every Tuesday via our social media channels. Whether renewing your membership, ordering delivery from local independent businesses, or donating goods and services to those that could use it the most, Giving Tuesday will highlight ways we can all help sustain and strengthen our communities.
One in five people in Los Angeles County experiences food insecurity. This Tuesday, we would like to highlight food resources and ways in which we can help make sure no one goes hungry in our city. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank mobilizes resources to help people who are in need of food assistance. The Coronavirus crisis has resulted in unplanned expenses for the Food Bank, as well as an increase demand of their services. Please consider these ways of helping (and getting help!) below:
- Monthly Giving: Your donation is vital to distributing healthy food for hungry neighbors in Los Angeles County. 97% of revenues go directly to the Food Bank programs for providing food for hungry children, hardworking families, struggling seniors, and more. $25 = 100 meals. To donate, click here.
- Volunteer: Consider volunteering for the Food Bank, who without their caring volunteers could not provide food for thousands of hungry people each week. By donating a few hours of your time, you’ll help provide food for the 2 million people in Los Angeles County who face food insecurity. To volunteer, click here.
- Get Help: If you need food assistance, the Food Bank’s network of local food pantries and agency partners can help. Enter your address via the following link to find your local food pantry and distribution dates and times. To get help, click here.
- Stay connected by following The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank on their social channels to stay up to date on their emerging needs and ways in which you can help. Here are their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages. Give them a follow!
