The Idea of Storytelling

Performance

Set within Doug Aitken’s 2008 installation migration (empire), this musical performance by Los Angeles–based singer-songwriter Devendra Banhart expands upon Aitken’s use of sound to both suggest and deconstruct narrative flow in his multichannel video installations, simultaneously building and interrupting the codes and conventions of storytelling. This performance is part of a series of in-gallery programs focusing on core ideas in the exhibition Doug Aitken: Electric Earth.

Priority tickets are available to MOCA members one hour before the program at the MOCA Box Office. Fifteen minutes before the program begins tickets will be released to non-members. One ticket per person on a first come, first served basis. Early arrival is recommended.
