Putting a playful spin on the traditional exhibition walkthrough, MOCA Senior Curator Bennett Simpson tours viewers through The Foundation of the Museum: MOCA’s Collection by solely focusing on works on the peripheries of, and in the very bones of, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Renovated by Frank Gehry in 1983, the architecture of the building itself is an iconic part of this exhibition. Simpson’s walkthrough focuses on key works by Maria Nordman, Barbara Kruger, Nancy Rubins, and Chris Burden that have been specifically reinvigorated or restaged for the museum’s 40th anniversary.
Priority tickets are available to MOCA members at any time on the day of the program. Thirty minutes before the program begins tickets will be released to non-members. One ticket per person on a first come, first served basis. Early arrival is recommended.
