In person: Saidiya Hartman
Arthur Jafa’s documentary Dreams Are Colder Than Death (2014) asks what it means to be Black in 21st-century America. Interviewing Black specialists and uncommon folks about what they think—and more importantly, what they know—Jafa captures a stream of the Black consciousness and a kaleidoscopic glimpse at Black American life. The documentary will be introduced by Saidiya Hartman, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, followed by a Q&A with Jafa and Hartman.
