MOCA Chief Curator Helen Molesworth leads a walk-through of Kerry James Marshall: Mastry, a retrospective of 35 years of work by artist Kerry James Marshall. The exhibition unfolds in chronological order, beginning with early works inspired by Ralph Ellison’s classic novel Invisible Man and culminating in paintings made during the Obama presidency, tracing both Marshall’s development as a painter and our nation’s evolving attitudes towards race.
