Los Angeles artist Tim Biskup creates on-demand graphite drawings using a deceptively simple yet hypnotic technique, as showcased in his mesmerizing social media videos. For this iteration of his Graphite Memory project presented by the MOCA Store, the artist will offer his drawings at exclusive one-night rates, making them accessible to collectors of all kinds. The pieces will be accompanied by specially crafted packaging, developed in collaboration with MOCA and his Face Guts project. Additional items from the collection will also debut and be available for purchase at the event.
Tim Biskup (b. 1967, Santa Monica, CA) is a Southern California artist known for his abstract and figurative painting, as well as sculpture, printmaking, and music. He studied fine art at Otis/Parsons before working in animation and illustration, refining his technical skills. In 1999, he started hosting live art auctions in Los Angeles, which led to a successful gallery career. Biskup’s evolving aesthetic is defined by complex color and design theories. In 2017, he opened Face Guts, a gallery in Glassell Park, CA. His mid-career retrospective monograph, Tree of Life, was published in 2019 by Chronicle Chroma.
