Wu Tsang is a Los Angeles–based filmmaker, artist, and performer. A central theme of her work is the voice, which she deploys metaphorically to pose questions about representation, such as “who is speaking for whom?” and “whose voices are heard and whose are silenced?” She is equally interested in how movement can articulate emotional experiences that exist outside of language. Tsang lectures on filmmaker and writer Hito Steyerl as part of MOCA’s Artists on Artists series, in conjunction with the exhibition Hito Steyerl: Factory of the Sun.
