Known for his experimental, surrealist prose, poet and Los Angeles native Will Alexander draws influence from the African diasporic experience and the international avant-garde, Aimé Césaire to André Breton, working through automatic writing to create new lexicons. Winner of the 2014 American Book Award, Alexander also received the 2016 Jackson Poetry Prize from Poets & Writers, which honored him as a “truly singular voice.” This reading is presented in conjunction with Kerry James Marshall: Mastry.
