In person: Alexandra Cuesta
The experimental films and videos of Ecuadorian filmmaker and visual artist Alexandra Cuesta are poetic documents of people and public spaces. Cuesta’s new-est film, Territorio (2016), is a portrait of the people of Ecuador shot in their environs. Progressing as a series of fragments, the film’s format is derived from the travel journals of avant-garde poet Henri Michaux. Territorio follows Michaux’s journey from sea to shore to mountains and into the jungle in what Cuesta describes as “a raw elegy to the everyday.”
