An exhibition by Betye Saar presented in conjunction with "Sanctified," a multi-media piece written and directed by Ellen Sebastian, both inspired by Zora Neale Hurston's life. "Sanctified" consisted of a series of commissioned installations, including three new works, tracing Hurston's life from rural Florida to New York, Jamaica, Haiti and back to Florida and organized by groupings of work symbolically related to those places and times. Accompanied by 14-page artist's book.
