Mona Hatoum: Map

Mona Hatoum’s Map (1999) is a monumental world map consisting of 3,300 pounds of clear glass marbles. Beirut-born Hatoum (b. 1952) became known in the early 1980s for a series of performance and video works that focused on the body. Purchased by MOCA in 2001 with funds provided by the Kwon Family Foundation in honor of Audrey M. Irmas, Map was previously exhibited in the 3rd SITE Santa Fe Biennial in 1999.
